Estelle Brazier, daughter of J. D. and L. D. Brazier b. November 5, 1889, d. January 25, 1911 Buried in Soldier's Rest Area of Cedar Hill Cemetery, Vicksburg, MS
Terry, that is a photo of Estelle beneath the keyboard. My interpretation of this unusual and interesting grave marker is that Estelle must have enjoyed playing the piano, and the piano grave marker is symbolic of that interest.
What a unique marker. It appears to be rather large in the photo. Guess that takes a person by surprise to find a piano in the cemetery. Wonder if those passing by hear music coming from the midst of the other grave markers?
Part of me is amused, part of me is touched by the lengths these parents went to memorialize their daughter. Thank you for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteIs that a photo of Estelle (beneath the keyboard)? I've never seen a grave marker of this sort before. Most interesting.
